If you are looking for a classy yet cheap but reasonably nice looking laptop as your desktop replacement, then I suggest you buy the Asus K50ij laptop. The Asus K50ij is definitely a good buy if you are into budget laptops. I just bought mine last year and I was really impressed with this notebook which only costs php26,500 $553 (last year’s pricing) but is now retailed at php 24,000 from most PC retailers here in the Philippines. I was lucky to have bought this since I was in dire need then of a budget laptop that was capable of running mainstream applications to get my work done.

The K50IJ isn’t just a poorly built laptop, it’s specifications surpass any professional notebook that’s sold in the market today. The sleek looking 15.6-inch laptop comes with a mixture of glossy and matte plastics that doesn’t suffer from the flex or squeaks that are common to cheap plastics. It has a glossy palm rest that provides good support and a full-sized keyboard with a dedicated number pad for your all day computing needs. Believe it or not, the K50ij has an “IceCool” feature that provides normal temperature for the palm rests and touch pad. Overall the Asus K50ij budget laptop will definitely meet your needs and expectations when it comes to style, functionality, and pricing.

It’s been quite a long time since I’ve featured a new laptop here in Gadget Geek. And now, I think it a good time to feature this latest laptop from Toshiba; the Portege A600 ultraportable laptop. This new ultraportable notebook, as the name suggests, is small and light suitable for traveling and business engagements. Although even if this is one small notebook, its features don’t inhibit it from performing various functional programs.

Some features of this new ultraportable laptop include a fourth-generation EasyGuard Technology along with PC Health Monitor, with performs checkups on the notebook’s critical hardware components; alerting users when the system is in need of a tune up. It also tracks the status of your computer, such as such as hard drive status, battery life and CPU temperature and system cooling warnings. And with built in components such as HDD protection, a spill resistant keyboard, fingerprint reader and Trusted Platfrom module, I’m sure you’ll never regret having this laptop for your everyday computing needs.
The Portege A600 also is an ENERGY STAR 4.0 compliant so you’ll never worry anymore about hazardous elements polluting the environment because this laptop is a certified environmental friendly device.
Some other great features of this Toshiba laptop are a 12.1-inch LED backlit display, providing users with an image rich in color saturation and superb quality. A USB Sleep-and-Charge/eSATA Combo Port, which allows data transfer five times faster than USB 2.0 and the ability to charge select USB mobile devices even if the laptop is on, off, or in sleep or hibernation mode. It is also powered by an Ultra low voltage Core 2 Duo SU9300 1.2GHz processor, with a 2GB of memory 160GB hard drive, DVD SuperMulti DL burner and GMA 4500 integrated graphics. See, how cool could that be?
Although the pricing for now is still at a whopping $1,399. You may never know, as soon as new ultraportable notebooks arrive in the market chances are that prices will suddenly go down.

For a gadget fanatic like me, I admit that I am deeply awed by how cool the gadgets are nowadays. Now as the technology advances, consumer electronics are becoming more and more sophisticated. During the early years, the digital camera was still not a fad. But as years pass by, it has become the latest trend to all techie users. The simple point and shoot device, is now turned into the most easy-to-use electronic tool and is more powerful when it comes to capturing moments on screen. When it comes to printing technology, various kinds of printers are now manufactured just to meet the demand of the consumers. From the simple type of colored and black and white printers, to an all in one photocopying, photo printing, and scanning device; printers became way more than the usual dot matrix office equipment. Usability, portability and ease of use also paved the way in the manufacturing of high-end laptops. Various kinds and brands of laptops now emerge in the tech market. From the trendy Hp laptops, Apple notebooks, Dell computers, and many other popular laptop brands; doing your traveling business can now be very easy and relaxing. As consumers crave for new types of gadgets, product manufacturers and companies will definitely not hesitate to develop new devices that are way more sophisticated than we could imagine.

Although Dell hasn’t unveiled yet this latest laptop to the public, Brian Lam of Gizmodo caught a glimpse of the Dell Mini Inspiron, their first mini laptop as he bumped into Michael Dell at All Things D. The mini-notebook shown to him by the American businessman and founder of Dell, Inc., has 3 USB ports, a card reader, VGA out, Ethernet, and a “red candy shell”. According to Brian, Dell’s CEO wouldn’t tell him the laptop’s OS, and even the pricing, although he stated that it’s a low-cost notebook meant for developing countries. Wow!

I just hope it’s true that this is really a low-cost notebook cause developing countries such as the Philippines look forward to the latest portable devices like this on the market. This latest laptop will surely be an Eee PC killer.

I’ve seen this kind of laptop somewhere when I was window shopping in the department store. Although the device I saw has a different brand on it and I don’t know what brand it was. This multi functional device, the Alpha 400 Ultra portable Laptop is cheap compared to other laptop brands out there in the market. I guess that’s how a low-end and cheap gadget should be introduced in the market. The Alpha 400 will apparently be priced from $250 (or $180 in volume), and it features a 400MHz Xburst CPU, 128MB of RAM, 1GB or 2GB of flash memory, a 7-inch 800 x 400 display, and will run on Windows CE or Linux. According to the laptop manufacturer Bestlink, the Alpha 400 is designed for communication and multimedia entertainment via Internet accessing through WiFi, ADSL, CDMA or GPRS connection. So if you’re not into high-end laptop or pc technology, then you’d probably buy one of these and just act like a gadget geek and you’re good to go.
